GLR processes incoming residential curbside materials using single stream sorting technology. This highly sophisticated equipment is comprised of various mechanized screens, magnets and other technologies to separate commingled materials collected from business and municipalities. Studies support that commingled collection has dramatically increased recycling participation where it has been implemented.
The advantage of commingled collection is the reduction in collection costs and an increased efficiency in the sorting process. The increased participation and efficiency reduces the dependence on landfills and provides more materials returning into the manufacturing stream.

In 1997 GLR installed its first Single Stream system at their Roseville, MI facility. This location became Michigan's first Single Stream recovery facility. With over 10 years of operation and still Michigan's only Single Stream processing facility, GLR has made another investment in Michigan's future with the opening of our second state-of-the-art facility in Huron Twp., MI. This new facility has the latest technologies available today to process recyclables in a clean and efficient way.
